American countries would be the first international destinations to be reactivated in Colombia.

The El Dorado Airport is ready to restart its activities on September 1st. The Ministry of Health has already carried out a third drill to verify that the biosecurity protocols are complied with and thus guarantee the tranquility of all travelers who will begin to move through this air terminal this Tuesday, starting at 5:00 in the morning.

In a dialogue with RCN News, the Vice Minister of Infrastructure, Olga Lucía Ramírez, spoke about the reactivation of the national air operation.

How many airports and routes are going to operate?

From Bogota there will be 14 routes to Rionegro, Cali, Cartagena, Barranquilla, Pereira, Santa Marta, Bucaramanga, Cúcuta, Montería, San Andrés, Medellín, Villavicencio, Pasto and Leticia. Let us remember that they already have the endorsement of the Ministry of Health and at this moment we are finalizing the details to see what the frequencies would be and which airlines would serve these routes.

As of Tuesday all the air terminals will be enabled?

As established by the recent decree that begins to be in force on September 1st, all airports will be operational, however, all routes and frequencies will be defined according to the connectivity plan that the Ministry of Transport has prepared together with the Civil Aeronautics.

What will be required from passengers to board a flight?

The biosecurity protocols are in resolution 1054 and basically they take the passenger from the moment he arrives at the airport, he will have to do it with two hours of anticipation, if possible to have his check in in an electronic way, he will not be able to enter with companions.

As for the luggage, it will be checked in and only one hand luggage will be allowed, so there will be no contact inside the plane. Use mouth guards at all times, maintain a social distance, follow all the instructions given by the airline staff and when you arrive at your destination, go directly to pick up your luggage.

Can children travel and will there be provisions for older adults?

The decree brings some special provisions so that, as far as possible, they try not to go to this type of activities that can generate a greater risk, however, there are no restrictions, just a recommendation.

What could be the first international routes to be activated?

The first thing we are working on is to lift the restriction we have today, however, we left the possibility that, if the causes that gave rise to the measure already disappear, then the Civil Aeronautics, through a resolution, will be able to lift them.

The Ministry of Health has already issued a concept that says that the causes have indeed disappeared, let us remember that at the time we were in a containment stage, we are already in a mitigation stage.

We hope that next week we will have a schedule of what these first countries will be, and we must remember that it depends not only on Colombia, but also on the agreements reached with other countries.

To date, informal talks have been advanced, and the President announced that we would begin with what would be America, taking into account those countries that do not have restrictions with Colombia. We are talking about Chile, Mexico, the United States and others in the southern cone.

Where will the tests to travel to San Andres take place?

They are antigen tests that are fast. Obviously it will be done at the airport and the cost will be assumed by the Government.

As for the tests at the international level, this is an issue that is still being discussed with the Ministry of Health.
