Emirates has returned $1.4 billion (‘1.184 billion) in reimbursements related to the coronavirus pandemic, completing more than 1.4 million refund requests since March, representing 90 percent of the airline’s outstanding cases.

This includes all requests received from customers until the end of June, except for some cases that required additional manual review, according to the company.
In addition to direct refunds, the airline is working with industry partners to facilitate refunds for those who have booked their flights through travel agents.
Emirates is gradually restarting operations in line with the reopening of borders with a range of security measures from biosecurity at travel stages to free medical coverage for coronavirus and flexible booking policies. The airline currently offers flights to more than 80 cities.
