The Australian airline Qantas announced that a seven-hour “flight to nowhere”, which will take off and land at the same airport amid travel restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic, was sold out in 10 minutes.
The unusual flight is scheduled to take off from Sydney on October 10th and return the same day, without making any stops, while promising passengers spectacular low altitude panoramic views over Uluru and the Great Barrier Reef, among other places.

Buyers quickly grabbed the 134 available seats, which range in price from $575 to $2,765, depending on the class of the seat. The flight will be operated with a Boeing 787.
“This is probably the fastest flight sold in Qantas’ history,” said a Qantas spokesperson. “People clearly miss the trip and the experience of flying. If there is demand, we will definitely see the possibility of doing more of these flights while waiting for the borders to open.
