Pakistan fines Qatar Airways for violating standard operating procedures.

The government of Pakistan has imposed a fine of 100,000 rupees (US$615.59) on Qatar Airways for violating the standard operating procedures (SOP) for the prevention of Covid-19 on its flight.

Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) spokesman Abdul Sattar Khokhar said in a press release on Friday that the government had taken serious note of the violation which had endangered the health and safety of passengers as well as staff working at the airport. The airline will also be responsible for all expenses incurred in the testing of Covid-19 and the quarantine of passengers and staff.

Sattar Khokhar said that one of the passengers with positive Covid-19 test had traveled on the flight from Qatar Airways to Islamabad.

The PCAA has already ordered airlines operating flights to and from Pakistan to ensure compliance with SOPs that have been devised and implemented to protect passengers from contracting the virus.
