French-Italian aircraft manufacturer ATR announced Thursday that it has obtained European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification for its regional freighter ATR 72-600F.

The manufacturer received 30 firm orders from FedEx Express, plus 20 options, placed in November 2017. The first aircraft is scheduled for delivery in late 2020.
The aircraft has a maximum structural payload of 8.9 tons (19,600 pounds) and a cargo volume space of 75.5 cubic meters (2,666 cubic feet), compared to the Boeing 767 Freighter.
