Jet Airways could restart operations summer of 2021.

The Indian airline Jet Airways could return to the skies in the summer of next year, as the new owners, Murari Lal Jalan and Kalrock Capital, intend to start domestic and international operations with all the slots that were available to the airline before it ceased operations.

The new owners contemplated the possibility of creating a new airline, but chose to keep the brand because of the existing value, connecting with customers and the important flight slots in different airports.

If all goes according to plan and the consortium receives timely approvals from the NCLT and regulatory authorities, Jet Airways would be back in the skies by summer 2021, according to a statement issued by the company.

“The airline’s centers of operations will remain Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru as before. The recovery plan proposes to support level 2 and 3 cities by creating sub-centers of operations in these cities,” the statement said.

On 18 October, Jet Airways’ lenders approved the resolution plan submitted by UK-based Kalrock Capital and UAE-based businessman Murari Lal Jalan to reactivate and operate the airline more than a year after the company was grounded due to severe funding shortages under the ownership of its founder Naresh Goyal.

“Jet Airways has been a brand with a glorious history of more than 25 years, and the vision of the consortium is to put the airline back in the skies as soon as possible. Our goal is to revitalize the brand by injecting energy, warmth and vitality into it, while making it bigger and better,” said Manoj Narender Madnani, board member of the Jalan Kalrock consortium.
