The first commercial flight of OTT Airlines, a new airline that is a subsidiary of China Eastern Airlines based in Shanghai that operates the passenger planes developed in China, took off from Hongqiao International Airport on Monday.

Flight MU5159, operated by an ARJ21 regional jet, took off at 2:33pm and landed at Beijing Capital International Airport around 4:30pm.
The new airline’s fleet will mainly consist of ARJ21 and C919 regional aircraft, along with other passenger aircraft developed in China.

OTT Airlines plans to receive three ARJ21s this year, another six in 2021 and eight in 2022.
After receiving its first ARJ21 on June 28, the airline has conducted a series of tests for its certification, which it finally obtained on December 25 from the China Civil Aviation Administration.
