Canada will require all travelers entering the country by air to submit a negative coronavirus test no more than 72 hours before travel, a measure that comes in the face of a rapid increase in cases and the appearance of infections of the new variant of the coronavirus.

The Minister of Intergovernmental Affairs, Dominic LeBlanc, announced the decision on Wednesday at a press conference and said that the measure was adopted on Wednesday after an emergency meeting of the government, reported EFE.
Travelers will have to present a negative PCR test performed 72 hours before boarding the plane. In addition, the Canadian government said it maintains the obligation for all travelers to observe a 14-day quarantine after arriving in the country.
The measure will take effect soon, but it was not specified when.
