A week after the FAA, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certified the new “high-density” version of the MAX 8. The type certificate published this Tuesday, April 6, 2021, mentions on page 69 that the Boeing 737 MAX 8200 can carry up to 202 passengers and five cabin crew members, only limited by the ventilation capacity per passenger of environmental control system.

No changes from the MAX 8 distinguish the 8200 in terms of size, MTOW or cargo capacity, the most visible being the number of doors (2 emergency exits have been added).
Low-cost airline Ryanair will be the first operator of the model.
The airline’s CEO, Michael O’Leary, said last week that they expect to take delivery of eight of the MAX aircraft in April, another eight in May and none in June.
