Mexican airline Viva Aerobus will begin regular flights from Mexico City and Cancun to Miami (Florida) as of December 17.
Flights from the Mexican capital will operate a daily frequency, while from Cancun it will be a weekly flight.
The announcement comes despite the recent downgrade of Mexico’s safety rating by the FAA, a measure that prohibits Mexican airlines from launching new routes. However, the FAA allows carriers to launch flights if the route has already been cleared.
In this case the routes had already been authorized by the authorities prior to the safety downgrade.
