Irish low-cost airline Ryanair reported Wednesday that it carried 9.3 million passengers last July, more than double the number in the same month last year.
The company noted in a statement that the upturn in its traffic coincides with the entry into force of the European Union (EU) covid certificate, which has allowed it to relax travel restrictions during the coronavirus pandemic.

Ryanair also improved its occupancy rate, which measures the number of seats occupied on each flight, to 80% in July, compared to 72% in June, when it carried 5.3 million passengers.
The Ryanair group, comprising airlines Laudamotion, Buzz, Malta Air and Ryanair UK, said it operated more than 61,000 flights on its European route network in July.
