Production of the first prototype of the CR929 Sino-Russian airliner CR929 has reportedly begun at Linang, COMAC’s new industrial zone south of Shanghai-Pudong airport, Jiefang Daily reported Thursday.
The CR929 is presented as a competitor to the Boeing 787 and Airbus A330.

COMAC and UAC plan to offer three variants of the aircraft, CR929-500, CR929-600 and CR929-700. The intermediate version (CR929-600), will be able to carry 280 passengers over a distance of 12,000 kilometers.
The information is part of China’s Civil Aviation Development Plan, which also addresses the ARJ21 and C919 programs.
