Low-cost airline SpiceJet will receive two Boeing 777s next month as part of compensation for the nearly 19-month grounding of the 737 Max.
The company has started the process of hiring pilots for these two aircraft and will use them for long-haul passenger or cargo flights, Time of India reported.

“The situation is very fluid. We will see how it evolves. If the pandemic situation continues to improve, as it did before the Omicron variant, then it makes sense to deploy the Boeing 777s for scheduled passenger flights. If not, then cargo,” sources said.
The carrier currently has 13 Boeing 737 Max aircraft in its fleet out of 205 on order.
