Air Europa recovers pre-pandemia capacity to Sao Paulo, Brazil

Air Europa will recover this month the capacity levels it had before the Covid-19 pandemic on the route to the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo, by returning to operate, starting next March 28, a daily flight, the airline said Thursday in a statement.

The company has explained that the good performance of the route, which records an average occupancy rate of over 85%, has led it to increase its offer and move from the current five weekly frequencies to a daily flight, EFE reported.

Its new schedule to and from the Sao Paulo-Guarulhos international airport is in line with the company’s objective of recovering routes and frequencies, based on the criterion of capacity discipline, which means adapting supply to real market demand.

Brazil is a “fundamental” market for Air Europa, so it is “gratifying” to see its recovery and to be able to once again offer daily flights operated with its Boeing 787-9 fleet, with capacity for 339 passengers, the company said.

The airline expects to be able to resume flights to the Brazilian airports of Salvador de Bahía and Fortaleza during the course of this year, if the sector and the market continue to recover, and thus gradually return to all the destinations in its transoceanic network, according to Air Europa’s commercial director in the Americas, Diego García.
