Mexican airline Viva Aerobus reported preliminary traffic results for February 2022, when it transported more than 1.22 million passengers, an increase of 89.4% compared to February 2021. The occupancy factor reached 84.3%, an increase of 7.6 percentage points vs. the same month of the previous year.
Domestic traffic was over 1.08 million passengers, 76.8% more than in February 2021 and with an occupancy factor of 88%. International traffic was more than 135 thousand passengers, an increase of 341.3% vs. the same month last year and with an occupancy factor of 69.1%.

In February 2022, Viva’s demand, measured in revenue per passenger mile (RPMs) in the domestic and international markets increased 74.8% and 592.4%, respectively, compared to February 2021. Total demand (RPMs) increased by 98.6%.
As a result, the airline increased its total capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), by 80.6% compared to February 2021. In terms of market breakdown, Viva increased its capacity by 55.2% in the domestic market and by 455.7% in the international market.
“Passenger demand was maintained during the month of February, despite the Omicron variant. We will continue to grow responsibly, increasing our capacity in existing markets and opening new routes as we recently announced direct flights from Mexico City to Medellin and Nuevo Laredo and from Cancun to Medellin, Colombia,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
