Viva inaugurates new route in Medellin and Punta Cana

With the purpose of continuing to expand the international air market, Viva Airlines announced the start of operations of its new Medellin – Punta Cana route, with four flights a week and connections from Bogota, Cali, Cartagena and Lima.

The new route, which has its inaugural flight this Friday from Medellin to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, plans to transport more than 50 thousand passengers during its first year of operations, while enabling a reduction in market fares of up to 30%, known as the ‘Viva Effect’, allowing Colombians to find tickets from USD 149 each way, departing from Medellin. From Bogota, Cartagena and Cali, connecting through the Medellin Hub, tickets can be purchased from USD 169 each way.

The airline will fly from Medellin to Punta Cana on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This brings to 12 the number of international routes that Viva operates from its Medellin Hub.

This inaugural flight is in addition to the start of operations of our 14 domestic routes, which also begin operations this month and demonstrate Viva’s local and international reach, as well as its purpose of guaranteeing air inclusion and connectivity in the country and the continent. In this sense, our route network will continue to grow and provide more connection opportunities to all travelers with Colombia and the world, through our HUB Medellin,” said Felix Antelo, CEO of Grupo Viva.

Today the airline’s network of connections, thanks to the new international route and its 14 new routes in Colombia, reaches 44 domestic and 12 international routes.
