EasyJet obtains 18 new slots at Lisbon airport
EasyJet on Thursday welcomed the European Commission’s decision to allocate it 18 slots at Lisbon airport, previously owned by TAP, which will make it the second airline at the airport.
The decision means easyJet will be able to offer a wider choice of destinations and affordable fares for people traveling to and from the Portuguese capital. The additional capacity enabled by the new slots will be deployed from October.

easyJet began operating in Portugal in 1998 and opened its base in Lisbon in 2012, employing around 500 people on local contracts. The airline currently flies to and from 5 airports in Portugal, including Lisbon, Porto, Faro, Funchal and Porto Santo.
“We are really pleased with the European Commission’s decision to allocate 18 new slots at Lisbon airport to easyJet. This will allow us to continue to grow significantly in one of our most important markets,” said José Lopes, easyJet’s country manager for Portugal.
