Virgin Atlantic looking for Pilots

Virgin Atlantic has opened a call to recruit first officers for its fleet of Airbus and Boeing aircraft, for the first time since 2020.

The demand for pilots comes as Virgin Atlantic increases capacity across its network, including its first service to Austin, Texas, which launched in May 2022, a new route to Tampa, Florida, which begins November 3 along with a seasonal service to Cape Town, South Africa, beginning November 5.

Virgin Atlantic has one of the youngest twin-engine widebody fleet. This includes the A350-1000 aircraft, the Boeing 787 Dreamliners and also the A330-900neo, which will start operations with the airline in October 2022.

Following the impact of the pandemic, Virgin Atlantic was the first airline to create a standby pool to welcome pilots and cabin crew when more flights were allowed. All standby pilots who have passed the interview have either rejoined or confirmed start dates and the company is now ready to restart external recruitment.

The airline anticipates that it will need an additional 100 pilots by the summer of 2023, another 60 by the summer of 2024, and another 40 by the summer of 2025.
