Romanian Blue Air canceled all its flights until September 12

The Romanian low-cost airline Blue Air reported Tuesday that it had canceled all its flights until September 12 after the Environment Ministry blocked its bank accounts for not paying a fine, making it impossible to pay suppliers.

Blue Air, which signed a debt restructuring agreement in 2020 as it was affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, operates flights from Bucharest and the cities of Bacau, Cluj and Iasi.

In July, the national consumer protection authority (ANPC) fined the airline €2 million for canceling more than 11,000 flights between April 2021 and April 2022. The company said it would challenge the fine.
