Iberojet inaugurates direct flights between Madrid and Santiago de Cuba

Iberojet inaugurated its direct Madrid-Santiago de Cuba flight this Friday, November 11, with 100% occupancy, demonstrating the good reception of the route. Iberojet thus becomes the only airline in Spain to offer a non-stop connection to and from the emblematic Cuban city.

The flight, which took off from Adolfo Suárez-Madrid Barajas airport at 18:00 (Spanish time) with 388 people on board, was welcomed at Santiago de Cuba’s international airport by the country’s airport authorities, as well as personalities belonging to the country’s public institutions.

This route from Spain will operate all year round and represents a great opportunity to get to know Santiago de Cuba, the second most important city in the country, located in the far east of the island, a unique enclave with numerous travel experiences beyond its heritage, gastronomy and paradisiacal beaches.

In addition to offering direct flights Madrid-Santiago de Cuba, Iberojet offers the possibility of combining the airports of Santiago de Cuba and Havana to enter and leave the country, thus allowing travelers to travel more comfortably, optimizing travel time and getting to know many more tourist sites.

Paul Verhagen, Iberojet’s deputy general manager, who attended the inaugural flight, commented: “The inauguration of this direct Madrid-Santiago de Cuba flight, which is completely full, demonstrates the relevance of the Caribbean island for the Spanish market when choosing a holiday destination. With this operation, in addition to offering travelers an alternative to the destination of Havana, we want to demonstrate our firm commitment to diversify destinations, so that our end customer has different and varied options when choosing a vacation destination.”
