American Airlines to offer AAdvantage members greater rewards

Follow us on social media and always stay updated

American Airlines continues to evolve its AAdvantage program to provide more value to members during their travels. Members will enjoy new benefits and earn rewards before, in between and beyond the various status levels.

“We are creating more meaningful travel rewards programs for our AAdvantage members,” said Vasu Raja, American’s Chief Commercial Officer. “Only our members will be able to unlock a much larger world of unique experiences with the airline and our partners. With this, and other innovations on the way, we continue to demonstrate our commitment that travel is better when you’re an AAdvantage member.”

Introducing more AAdvantage Benefits and Loyalty Points Rewards

In March 2023, American will launch opportunities to receive benefits and earn rewards more often, and give members the option to customize their travel experience.

For example, members will unlock their first Loyalty Point Reward point – formerly known as Loyalty Choice Rewards – after earning just 15,000 Loyalty points, and before reaching the AAdvantage Gold® level. These members will receive the Group 5 boarding benefit for the membership year, and the option to choose between two Loyalty Point Rewards:

  • Priority check-in, security and boarding Group 4 for one trip.
  • Five seat selection coupons.

As members advance to higher status levels by earning Loyalty Points, they will receive new benefits, such as Loyalty Point bonuses to purchase from one of our partners, and status with the airline’s automotive partner of choice.

Unlocking AAdvantage 2023 status and more

As a reminder, Loyalty Points are all members need to earn status and reset each program year. Program members can earn miles and Loyalty Points when they fly, when they use the AAdvantage credit card for purchases, or when they engage with more than 1,000 members. Members can use those miles to enhance their travel and achieve status and rewards through Loyalty Points.

JetBlue and American Airlines to increase flights in New York and Boston

Even beyond the highest status levels, members still have the opportunity to earn more Loyalty Points rewards to unlock perks and choose rewards to customize their travel experiences, such as cross-base upgrades, Admirals Club day passes, travel credits, reimbursements for travel purchased with miles, and more.

Mileage earning enhancements and exchanges

American will remove the previous cap of 75,000 miles that members could earn on a single ticket, making flying with American even more rewarding. Members will earn miles for flights based on ticket price and AAdvantage status.

Also, on American and select partner flights, AAdvantage members will receive two miles for every dollar spent on Basic Economy fares for all tickets purchased on or after January 1, 2023, for travel beginning March 1, 2023.

Access to all that American has to offer

AAdvantage membership is the only way to experience the best American Airlines has to offer and delivers access to the airline’s best member experiences. Beginning March 2023, only members will be able to book and redeem miles on American Airlines™ Vacations packages, which gives customers deals on flights, hotels and car rentals. Also, beginning March 2023, U.S. American Airlines AAdvantage® Mastercard® credit card users can redeem miles on Priceless® MasterCard® Experiences*, such as private dining, sporting events, food festivals, plays and more.

All members will continue to have daily mileage redemption opportunities. In addition to being able to redeem miles for flights, members will be able to redeem miles to personalize their travel, with experiences such as Main Cabin Extra Seating, Five Star Service™, and more.

American looks forward to continuing to create more opportunities for AAdvantage members to redeem miles to personalize their travel.
