JetBlue and American Airlines to increase flights in New York and Boston

JetBlue and American Airlines announced Friday that they will increase their Northeast U.S. service with the addition of new nonstop destinations from New York LaGuardia Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport in 2023.

The new flights – which include many routes with limited competition today – are made possible by the Northeast Alliance (NEA) between the two airlines.

New JetBlue flights

In spring 2023, JetBlue will introduce nonstop flights to Atlanta, Bermuda, Hyannis (Massachusetts), Nassau (Bahamas) from LaGuardia.

In the summer, the airline will expand its premium Mint flights with Saturday service between Newark and Aruba. It will also reintroduce service between Newark and Montego Bay, Jamaica, with daily seasonal service.

American Airlines resumed flights between Miami and Managua.

JetBlue plans to expand its service in Canada with a daily seasonal flight between Boston and Vancouver. The new flights to Vancouver will complement the airline’s service between New York-JFK and Vancouver, which was first launched earlier this year also as part of NEA-related growth.

New American Airlines flights

American Airlines will add six new destinations from New York with nonstop flights to Birmingham, Buffalo, Greenville, Columbia, Grand Rapids and Knoxville from LaGuardia.

American will expand its seasonal flights between LaGuardia and Asheville, North Carolina, to year-round flights. The airline will also add an additional frequency between Boston Logan International Airport and Louisville, Kentucky.

Next year, the Northeast Alliance will offer nearly 300 daily flights from New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport and serve 49 of the top 50 global markets. At New York’s three major airports, NEA will operate more than 500 daily departures by 2023, and nearly 200 daily in Boston.
