The Venezuelan state-owned airline Conviasa informed this Sunday that it plans to increase its international offer by 30% this year with the recovery of routes in Latin America and the incorporation of connections between cities, including Havana, Damascus, Tehran and Moscow.
The company “will continue to expand its national and international operations this year, as part of the strategic plan for the development of the nation”, says a press release issued by the airline, quoting statements made by the Minister of Transportation, Ramón Velásquez.

On an unannounced date, Conviasa will start offering connections from Caracas between the cities of Havana and Moscow, Havana and San Vicente, Damascus and Teheran, and between Puerto Ordaz and Manaus, the latter on the occasion of the carnival to be held in Brazil in February.
Likewise, the airline plans to start offering direct flights from Caracas to Sao Paulo and Surinam, while it is also working on resuming the connection between Punto Fijo (northwest) and Aruba.
The minister added that they plan to resume the routes to Chile, Argentina, Ecuador and Peru, “the best” that the company had until they were lost in the last years due to the economic crisis and the international sanctions against Venezuela, including one that weighs directly on Conviasa.
