PLAY airline to land in Canada next summer

Icelandic PLAY announced Tuesday its new route between Reykjavik and Toronto, Canada, starting June 22, the airline’s fifth North American destination.

“Toronto-Hamilton International Airport is small and convenient, with affordable transportation options to and from the city. The cost of operating at this airport is lower than others in the area. This means PLAY can offer the lowest fares between Toronto and Europe,” the airline said in a statement.

In 2022, PLAY served 25 destinations, but in 2023 it plans to expand to nearly 40 in both Europe and North America.

“I have been eagerly awaiting the launch of ticketing for flights to Canada, as it will be an important market for us at PLAY. Our services in North America have been very successful, and I am excited to be able to offer more people the opportunity to travel between North America, Iceland and Europe at affordable prices,” says Birgir Jónsson, CEO of PLAY.
