Lufthansa announced Wednesday that it will resume scheduled flights with Airbus A380s as of June 1, after a three-year hiatus, starting with daily flights between Munich and Boston.
From July 4, the route between Munich and New York-JFK will also be operated by an A380.
The airline is thus significantly expanding its premium offering at its southern hub, especially with additional seats in Business and First Class.

With 509 seats, Lufthansa’s A380 has around 80% more capacity than the Airbus A340-600 currently flying on the Munich-New York route. In total, the superjumbo offers four classes: 8 seats in First Class, 78 seats in Business Class, 52 seats in Premium Economy and 371 seats in Economy.
Due to the significant increase in demand and the delay in delivery of the ordered aircraft, Lufthansa had decided to reactivate the Airbus A380 in 2022.
By the end of 2023, a total of four A380 aircraft will take off again from Munich.
