SAUDIA and Riyadh Air jointly order up to 121 Boeing 787s

Saudi Arabian Airlines (SAUDIA) and newly launched Riyadh Air announced Tuesday orders for up to 121 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft between the two airlines in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

To expand its fleet, SAUDIA is ordering 39 787 aircraft, with an option for 10 more. The agreement will include 787-9 and 787-10 models.

The airline, founded in 1945, currently operates more than 50 Boeing aircraft on its long-haul network, including the 777-300ER, 787-9 and 787-10 Dreamliner.

Riyadh Air, owned by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), reported that it will purchase 39 787-9 aircraft, with options for an additional 33.

Based in the country’s capital, the new airline will play a key role in the growth of Saudi Arabia’s air transport network.

This agreement is part of Saudi Arabia’s broader strategic plan to transform the country into a global aviation hub, serving 330 million passengers and attracting 100 million annual visitors by 2030.

The deal will be the fifth largest commercial order by value in Boeing’s history.
