LATAM Airlines announced on Tuesday the restart of its non-stop flights between Santiago de Chile and Melbourne, Australia, as of September 1, 2023. The service was suspended in April 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The route will initially have three weekly frequencies and will be operated by Boeing 787-9 aircraft, with capacity for 300 passengers in Premium Business, Economy+ and Economy cabins.

LATAM had already restarted operations to Australia in March last year with three weekly flights to Sydney, progressively increasing operations to a daily flight by December 2022.
“We are very pleased to strengthen connectivity between South America and Oceania through this second route to Australia. We will maintain our commitment to offer more options to bring people closer to their destination with safety, punctuality and internationally recognized service,” said María Paz Villasante, Commercial Strategy Manager, LATAM Airlines Group.
