Avianca to reach 150 aircraft with the addition of ten Airbus A320neo jets

Avianca announced Wednesday that, in line with its intention to expand its capacity to maintain connectivity in Colombia, Central America and the region, it will incorporate ten Airbus A320neo aircraft, after reaching an agreement with various lessors.

“Today it is time to look to the future to continue putting our operation at the service of Colombia and Latin America. For this reason, we sought and obtained additional aircraft; we summoned 730 experts including pilots, crew members, service agents, dispatch and maintenance technicians, and with this in place we are awaiting the equitable allocation of slots in accordance with the RAC, to really make sustainable tourism grow in the region,” said Adrian Neuhauser, president and CEO of Avianca.

These aircraft will join Avianca’s current fleet of more than 130 aircraft for its passenger and cargo operations, which will total 150 by year-end.

The arrival of the new equipment will be completed before the end of 2023 so that the company will be prepared to effectively serve the upcoming mid- and end-of-year peak seasons, when passenger demand increases considerably.
