Avianca announces that as of July 18, the airline’s customers will have the option to purchase the XXL Business Class size for travel to 4 destinations in the Americas on flights operated on double-aisle aircraft as of August 15.
The routes on which this service is available are: Bogota – Buenos Aires, Bogota – Sao Paulo, Bogota – Miami and San Salvador – Los Angeles.
On July 1, the airline also made Business Class travel available on the Bogotá – Los Angeles route.

The airline stated that the decision to offer Business Class was made after listening to, analyzing and addressing customers’ suggestions to improve their travel experience on some of the longest routes the airline operates in the Americas. In addition, the airline explained that, with the exception of Los Angeles, flights to the aforementioned destinations will have a combined operation in Boeing 787 and Airbus A320 aircraft, for which it recommends passengers to identify at the time of purchase if the chosen flight offers the XXL size, which is the one that corresponds to Business Class.
“Our customers have been asking us for this class for medium-range routes and, in line with the customization of our fares, today we listened to them and made internal adjustments so that they can also purchase and enjoy Business Class with all its benefits on our wide-cabin flights, if they require it on any of their flights to countries in the Americas,” said Manuel Ambriz, Avianca’s Chief Commercial Officer.
Some of the attributes included in the XXL size for Business Class travel are:
- Two 32 kg hold baggage
- Priority baggage counter and delivery
- Itinerary change and reimbursement
- Mileage accrual
- Priority boarding
- Dinner/lunch with a choice of two options, snacks and dessert
- Breakfast with a choice of two options
- Complimentary hot and cold beverages and liquor offerings
- Amenity kit, blanket and pillow on night flights
- Free entertainment system
Passengers traveling on these routes in economy cabin or single-aisle aircraft will be able to access the airline’s retail menu with more than 40 products available for them to choose from.
