South African Airways to resume flights to São Paulo, Brazil

South African Airways (SAA) announced that it will resume flights to São Paulo, Brazil, its first intercontinental destination since the airline returned to the skies in September 2021.

The carrier will offer two routes to Brazil’s most populous city: Cape Town-São Paulo from October 31, 2023 and Johannesburg-São Paulo from November 6, 2023. Both routes will operate twice weekly frequencies.

“We are delighted to announce São Paulo as our first international destination since the airline successfully emerged from an intense corporate rescue process. It also marks the return of our long-haul service from Cape Town,” said the airline’s interim CEO, John Lamola.

“Our decision to relaunch long-haul services with São Paulo was made based on a rigorous analysis of the viability of the route,” Lamola added.
