Viva Aerobus announces its major growth at the new Felipe Angeles Mexico City Airport (AIFA), with the launch of 17 new routes to Ciudad Juarez, Ciudad Obregon, Chetumal, Chihuahua, Durango, Guadalajara, Huatulco, Merida, Nuevo Laredo, Puerto Vallarta, Reynosa, Los Cabos, Tampico, Tulum, Tuxtla Gutierrez, Veracruz and Villahermosa, as well as an increase in frequencies on the ten routes already in operation
As a result of this commitment to the connectivity of the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, Viva will turn this new airport into a strategic hub in the central region of the country by offering 4.5 million seats by 2024; this means that the airline will quintuple its capacity at AIFA in the summer of 2024 compared to 2023. To achieve such an operation, the airline will have 27 routes, 72 daily flights and 12 aircraft dedicated to this airport.

These 17 new routes are designed to meet the growing demand for air connectivity in the MCMA with the best value proposition with new aircraft, direct flights and low prices that benefit all passengers and boost tourism, competitiveness and economic spillover in our country,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.
The route to Tulum begins operations on December 1, the flight to Guadalajara will begin on December 9 and flights to Ciudad Juarez and Merida on December 16. Services to Huatulco, Chihuahua, Reynosa, Nuevo Laredo and Veracruz will begin on January 8, 2024; and the routes to Tampico and Villahermosa on January 9. Flights to Tuxtla Gutierrez, Puerto Vallarta and Chetumal will begin on April 4, 2024; and to Los Cabos on April 18, 2024. Finally, the route to Ciudad Obregón will begin on July 4, 2024 and Durango on July 5, 2024.
Additionally, Viva Aerobus will increase the number of flights on the ten routes it already has at this new airport starting in the summer of 2024 -July-, which will operate as follows: One daily flight to Acapulco, Hermosillo, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, Mazatlan, Oaxaca and Havana; Two daily flights to Puerto Escondido; Three daily flights to Monterrey and Tijuana; Four daily flights to Cancun.
According to the airline, this growth strategy at the airport is strongly supported by solid traveler preference and confidence. In the period January – August 2023, more than 600 thousand passengers have been transported to/from AIFA.
