LATAM launches in-flight WiFi service on flights within Colombia

LATAM Airlines launched the new in-flight internet service that will be available on flights within Colombia, as part of its goal to offer the best travel experience in the market.

The service offers free access to messaging for all passengers via whatsapp and other applications, but the company also offers paid alternatives for those who require greater connection.

To surf the web according to their needs, users will have the option of choosing data plans starting at $20,000 (US$5) per hour, which will facilitate everything from basic functions such as checking e-mail to the use of onboard streaming services.

It is important to clarify that these packages will only be available for credit card payment.

“With the launch of this new service, we seek to enhance our customers’ experience and transform travel time into a space for productivity and comfort, allowing them to stay connected at all times through our in-flight entertainment platform, LATAM Play,” said Santiago Álvarez, CEO of LATAM Airlines Colombia.

The service is available on ten of the thirty aircraft operated by the company in Colombia and is expected to be available on the entire Colombian fleet during 2024.

The investment for the implementation of this project in all markets where LATAM operates amounts to US$11 million. Currently, in addition to Colombia, in-flight internet service is available in Brazil, and by next year it will progressively come into operation in the Chilean and Peruvian markets.

It is also important to mention that LATAM Play is the airline’s in-flight entertainment platform that offers more than 150 movies, 430 episodes of series and content for children. It also has exclusive content from HBO Max, Tik Tok, LinkedIn Learning, among others.
