France has been on “attack emergency” alert since the assassination last Friday of Professor Dominique Bernard in Arras.
During Wednesday, at least eight airports had to be evacuated because of “attack threats” received by e-mail, but not the Parisian Charles de Gaulle and Orly airports, a police source said.
Among the airports affected were those of Biarritz, Lille, Lyon-Bron, Bordeaux, Nantes, Nice, Toulouse and Beauvais, the source said.

In the afternoon, only Bordeaux airport remained closed “until further notice,” according to air traffic control body Eurocontrol.
In Nice, “there was only one suspicious package alert, something usual, which forced a security perimeter to be set up, but everything returned to normal,” the airport said.
