Avianca launches scholarship program for women who want to become pilots
As part of its 104th anniversary, Avianca launched the “El Cielo es de Ellas” (The Sky is theirs) program, aimed at awarding 20 scholarships to women from different cities in Colombia who aspire to become pilots.
This initiative, which will have an investment of close to USD 900K, will allow the selected women to cover their studies in both the ground and flight phases, in addition to the possibility of studying in some of the best aviation schools in the country located in cities such as Bogota, Medellin, Barranquilla, Cali and Villavicencio.
The call for applications for the scholarship program will begin on January 9, 2024 through the jobs.avianca.com website.
What are the requirements?
- Colombian nationality
- Be older than 18 years old
- Have obtained a bachelor’s degree
- English level B2
- You must describe why you want to be a pilot and how you believe a woman contributes to the business and the airline industry.
“‘The sky is theirs’ is a program focused on creating opportunities for women who wish to embark on their professional lives as pilots by supporting them from the beginning of their careers,” said María Carolina Cortés Arce, Avianca’s Vice President of Corporate Communications.
