The National Infrastructure Agency, ANI, and OPAIN, the concessionaire of El Dorado Airport, will build 7 new aircraft parking positions at the air terminal, in accordance with the instructions of the capacity study delivered by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). With this, the aerodrome will increase from 91 to 98 positions, which will improve the efficiency of the operation. Work will begin in the third week of December and will last 23 months.
“El Dorado is considered the best airport in South America and is currently facing the challenge of increasing its operational capacity. To this end, the National Infrastructure Agency, in conjunction with OPAIN, will initiate a series of works. According to IATA recommendations, actions such as reducing aircraft runway occupancy times, efficient use of parallel runways, increasing parking positions and stands, among others, must be implemented. In order to address these recommendations, this week we signed the additional agreement that will allow us to increase El Dorado by 8% compared to the current number of positions,” said Carolina Barbanti, president in charge of the National Infrastructure Agency.

The work at El Dorado involves an area of 49 thousand square meters and will be located on the southeast side of the north runway. During the execution of this project, users of the air terminal will not be affected and airport operations will continue smoothly. This expansion will require an investment of approximately 116,000 million pesos.
In addition to the new parking positions, the agreement also includes the construction of the JW Tower, a building that will be 25 meters high and will be used to provide gastrobar services. This attraction adds to the range of cultural, commercial and artistic offerings that El Dorado makes available to its visitors, so that they can enjoy a memorable experience during their stay at the airport.
