The Venezuelan state-owned airline Conviasa inaugurated this Sunday a new route connecting Caracas with Algiers, capital of Algeria, according to the Minister of Transportation and president of the company, Ramón Velásquez.
“Our Venezuelan flag carrier, Conviasa, expands its connectivity with the new Caracas-Argel route. We expand our wings, to strengthen bilateral relations between both nations, and offer passengers the opportunity to get to know this destination,” said the official in X.
Velásquez led the inauguration ceremony of the route at the Simón Bolívar International Airport in Maiquetía, which serves Caracas, according to a video he shared on the social network.

Conviasa stated in X that, with this new connection, which “will favor the tourist, economic and productive growth of both nations”, there are now 14 international destinations offered, such as Havana, Cuba; Moscow, Russia; and Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador, among others.
The government estimates that passenger traffic will grow by 25% this year, with an expected 5 million passengers.
Venezuela and Algeria established bilateral relations on March 22, 1971 and have signed, to date, 44 cooperation instruments, including the Air Services Agreement, signed during the IV Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation, held in Caracas in June 2023, according to the Executive of the Caribbean country, EFE reported.
