JetSMART Airlines announced Wednesday that it will begin operations in the Colombian domestic market on March 14, offering flights to Bogota, Medellin, Cartagena, Pereira and Santa Marta.
At its launching event, the company informed that it began marketing seven direct routes, four from Bogotá to Medellín, Cartagena, Pereira and Santa Marta; also two routes from the city of Medellín to Santa Marta and Cartagena; and finally from Cartagena to Pereira. The airline expects to transport more than 2 million passengers in its first year of operation.
JetSMART has also added promotional fares for its flights from Colombia to its seven international destinations from Bogotá, Medellín and Cali to Santiago de Chile, from Cali to Antofagasta and from Medellín, Cartagena and Cúcuta to Lima, Peru.

“Today we are making history in Colombia, with the start of sales of our domestic flights in the country. Our Ultra-Low-Cost model is proven in the region, which has allowed us to carry more than 25 million people, flying SMART at ultra-low fares on new aircraft. We see enormous potential in Colombia to bring low-fare air travel to all Colombians, as well as connecting to international destinations to promote development, tourism and connectivity. The ultra low cost model is back in Colombia,” commented JetSMART Airlines CEO Estuardo Ortiz.
JetSMART’s commitment to Colombia is part of an ambitious expansion and growth plan in South America.
The airline currently operates more than 20 international routes in eight countries in South America and 50 domestic routes in three countries: Chile, Argentina and Peru. Today, Colombia joins this list as the fourth country with domestic routes.
