German airline Lufthansa on Tuesday inaugurated direct flights between Frankfurt and Hyderabad, its fifth destination in India, after Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

The route will operate five weekly flights on Boeing 787-9 aircraft with capacity for 294 passengers: 26 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 247 in Economy.

Lufthansa Group plans to hire around 13,000 new employees in 2024

“With our new service to Hyderabad, we now offer Indian passengers 64 weekly flights to our hubs in Europe and onward connections to the largest network on the European continent. With the launch of Hyderabad, our capacity to India has increased by 14% (relative to 2019), making it the fastest growing core market for Lufthansa,” said George Ettiyil, Senior Director South Asia, Lufthansa Group.
