LATAM to resume flights between Brasilia and Santiago, Chile

LATAM Airlines announced Wednesday that it will resume nonstop service between Brasilia and Santiago (Chile) starting June 1, 2024, its second international route in the Federal District after inaugurating its Brasilia-Lima flights in 2023.

The service between Brasilia and Santiago had been suspended in March 2020, following the advance of the Covid-19 pandemic and international sanitary restrictions.

The route will operate three weekly frequencies (Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays) on Airbus A320 (174 passengers) and A321 (220 passengers) aircraft.

The airline expects to carry up to 20,000 passengers per year on this route connecting Brazil and Chile, which will be added to the regular operations it offers between Guarulhos-Santiago, Galeão-Santiago, Confins-Santiago, Curitiba-Santiago, Florianópolis-Santiago and Porto Alegre-Santiago.

“In addition to being a gateway for Brazilians seeking the wonders of our neighbors in South America or Oceania, Brasilia has the potential to increasingly become the gateway for international travelers seeking fast connections to the North and Northeast of Brazil, and also to the attractions of our Center-West,” commented Aline Mafra, Director of Sales and Marketing for LATAM Brazil.

This route will allow passengers boarding in cities such as Salvador, Recife, Fortaleza, João Pessoa and Manaus to connect more quickly with Chile and Oceania (Australia and New Zealand), and vice versa.
