Viva Aerobus announces new route between Monterrey and Austin, Texas

Mexican airline Viva Aerobus announced a new route that will connect Monterrey with Austin (Texas) starting March 22, as part of its strategy to expand its direct flights to the United States.

The new route will be operated three times a week (Mondays, Fridays and Sundays) on Airbus A320 or A321 aircraft, with an average age of 5.2 years.

“This new route is part of our larger expansion strategy in the United States. We are excited to make travel between the two regions easier and more accessible than ever before. We know there is a great opportunity connecting the capitals of Texas and Nuevo Leon, which will foster tourism and business, as well as connect our universities and communities,” said Juan Carlos Zuazua, CEO of Viva Aerobus.

This is the second of six new destinations to the United States that the airline will open in 2024.

The first route opened to Denver in January, while Austin begins operations in March, followed by Miami, New York, San Francisco and Orlando.
