Boeing said Tuesday that it delivered 83 aircraft in the first quarter of 2024, the lowest number since mid-2021, as the company faces increased scrutiny following an Alaska Airlines 737 MAX 9 incident in January.

The U.S. manufacturer delivered 67 B737s, three B767s and 13 B787s.

Boeing also reported that it had received 113 new orders in March, driven by a deal for 85 737 MAX 10 aircraft from American Airlines, which also ordered planes from Airbus and Embraer. This brings Boeing’s year-to-date gross order total to 131.

Airbus confirmed that it delivered 142 aircraft in the first three months of the year, an increase of 12%.

The European manufacturer reported 170 new orders in the first quarter, with no cancellations.
