FAA investigates incident between two aircraft at Ronald Reagan Washington Airport
The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will conduct an investigation after a plane at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport was instructed to cross a runway where another aircraft was beginning its takeoff, the agency said.
A JetBlue plane was beginning its takeoff run on the airport’s runway 4 at about 7:41 a.m. Thursday when an air traffic controller ordered a Southwest Airlines aircraft to cross on the same runway, the FAA said in a statement.

Southwest Airlines Flight 2937, bound for Orlando, Florida, took off from the airport at 7:47, according to FlightAware, while JetBlue Flight 1554, bound for Boston, took off at 13:48.
In a statement, JetBlue said the flight aborted takeoff due to another plane attempting to cross the runway, but no injuries were reported. The plane was inspected before departing for Boston and the airline added that it “will work closely with federal authorities as this incident is fully investigated.”
Southwest said in a statement that it was aware of the incident and is “working with the FAA to fully understand the circumstances.”
