Norwegian reinforces its commitment to Spain and will have 79 routes and 13 aircraft based by summer 2024.
The company, which has a history of more than 20 years in the Spanish market, is back after the pandemic with a consolidated and progressive growth strategy both on the peninsula and in the Nordic countries. It recently acquired Widerøe, a Norwegian regional airline with a fleet of 48 aircraft.

Norwegian is committed to respectful tourism and connects capitals such as Stockholm or Oslo with Spanish cities such as Bilbao, Madrid or Lanzarote. After selling more than 5 million seats last year, the airline takes a new step and will open a new base in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, thus having a total of 4 bases (Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga and Las Palmas de Gran Canaria) throughout the year, plus an extra one in Palma de Mallorca during the summer season.
The new base in Las Palmas will operate with 2 aircraft from October 2024, contributing to the local economy of the city by generating between 80 and 120 jobs. The routes that will be available include destinations such as Stockholm, Oslo, Gothenburg (Sweden) or Torp (Norway).
“We are very pleased to announce the opening of a new base in the Canary Islands for the 2024/2025 winter season and to consolidate our commitment to Spain. A market that is becoming increasingly important and to which we are progressively returning after the pandemic. We look forward to increasing connectivity to the Canary Islands, which is increasingly popular with Norwegian travelers, as well as opening more connections to the north so that Spaniards can continue to enjoy the wilderness of the Nordic countries,” said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.
