Air Europa, which last year became the first Spanish airline to activate the Plusgrade system for its customers to bid for service upgrades, has extended the possibilities of this technology. Until now, it was possible to propose a price for an upgrade from Economy Class to Business Class, including many of the advantages that this entails, such as VIP lounge access, priority boarding and fully reclining seats. From this summer, eligible customers can also bid to upgrade from a standard Economy Class seat to an XL seat and also upgrade to the Premium cabin on those flights where this category is available.
The Plusgrade system allows users to make an offer to qualify for an improvement on the conditions of the ticket they have purchased. The procedure to achieve this is very simple. On the one hand, the passenger can request this possibility at any time on the Air Europa website after the purchase of his ticket, through the environment for managing his reservation. In addition, one week before the flight is scheduled, the customer can receive a first invitation by e-mail to test Plusgrade.

Once inside the platform, simply choose the product you are interested in and select the bid you want to place within the available price range. The bid only applies to a flight segment and not to connecting flights. If it is accepted, you will be charged and the seat change will be arranged. In the case of a bid to Business or Premium, you will still enjoy the benefits associated with both categories, excluding baggage allowance, which will be determined by the passenger’s original ticket.
With this evolution of Plusgrade technology, the possibilities for the customer increase and the advantages that can be accessed at a very competitive cost. XL seats in Economy class offer more legroom and greater comfort during the journey. In the case of Premium seats, available on some long-haul routes, the benefits go even further: larger recline angle and privacy, as well as access to the onboard comfort kit and Premium menu and priority boarding.
This initiative reaffirms Air Europa’s commitment both to innovation throughout the travel process and to the customer.
