Avianca was recognized for its work in the prevention of human trafficking during the “La Muralla Soy Yo” awards. These are organized by Fundación Renacer and highlight innovative actions in the prevention and protection of children and adolescents against commercial sexual exploitation.
“Human trafficking is an invisible crime, directed against the most vulnerable people in society. To attack it, Avianca has created very valuable alliances with the Renacer Foundation and the Attorney General’s Office, so that more travelers, more victims and our employees know how to identify and report this crime when they detect it. This recognition is a key sign that shows us that we are moving in the right direction,” said Felipe Andrés Gómez Vivas, Avianca’s Director of Institutional Relations and Sustainability.

Since 2018, Avianca has been strengthening its commitment against human trafficking through strategic alliances with Fundación Renacer and the Attorney General’s Office. As a result, the airline has been able to:
- Train personnel and implement security protocols: through educational content, talks with experts and the socialization of an instruction manual for the operational area explaining what to do in the event of detecting a possible case of trafficking.
- Raising awareness among travelers through information material: more than 130,000 cards containing key information on human trafficking are loaded on all Avianca aircraft.
- Generate awareness campaigns about the crime: within the framework of dates such as July 30, World Day to Combat Human Trafficking, with activations focused on the client and messages highlighting the importance of being alert and reporting if a case is suspected.
Additionally, in May 2024, Avianca joined forces with the Mayor’s Office of Medellin to combat the sexual exploitation of minors, launching an awareness campaign that impacted more than 500,000 travelers on flights to Medellin. Through messages of rejection and prevention, the airline reinforced its commitment to the protection of children and the promotion of responsible tourism, inviting them to discover the city and the country in a safe and healthy way.
