United Airlines has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the airline with the world’s largest fleet after receiving its 1,000th aircraft, a Boeing 737 MAX 9 (N77584).
Although American Airlines (978 aircraft) and Delta (985 aircraft) remain strong competitors, United has taken the lead, driven by strategic decisions made during the pandemic and a robust order portfolio.
Features of the New Aircraft
United Airlines’ new Boeing 737 MAX 9 is equipped with CFM International LEAP-1B engines and features a cabin configuration with 20 seats in United First and 159 in Economy (distributed between United Economy Plus and standard Economy).
This aircraft is the fourth in a series of acquisitions under a sale-and-leaseback agreement with Aviation Capital Group.
Growth and Future Fleet
With the recent delivery of its 1,000th aircraft, United Airlines continues its ambitious expansion plan. The airline expects to receive 10 wide-body aircraft and 71 narrow-body aircraft this year. Additionally, it has approximately 680 aircraft on order for delivery by the end of the decade.
This milestone reinforces United Airlines’ position as an undisputed leader in the aviation industry, setting a precedent for other airlines in terms of growth and fleet modernization.
