Ethiopian Airlines Announces New Route to Porto, Portugal

Ethiopian Airlines, the largest airline in Africa, announced this Friday the launch of a new passenger route to Porto, Portugal, starting on July 2, 2025. This service will operate with a stopover in Madrid, Spain, and aims to enhance air connectivity between Africa and Europe, furthering the airline’s regional expansion on the old continent.

Flight Frequency and Schedules

The new service will operate four times a week using the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner, ensuring a comfortable and efficient journey.

Flight ET740: Will depart from Addis Ababa on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 23:10, arriving in Madrid at 05:55 the next day. It will then depart from Madrid at 06:55, landing in Porto at 07:15.

Flight ET741: Will depart from Porto on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays at 19:55, arriving in Madrid at 21:10. Subsequently, it will depart from Madrid at 23:10, arriving in Addis Ababa at 07:25 the following day.

The CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, expressed his enthusiasm for this new route, highlighting the importance of Porto as a destination with a rich cultural heritage and significant economic growth. He also emphasized the airline’s commitment to offering more travel options and seamless connectivity for its passengers. “We are thrilled to expand our network to Porto, Portugal.
