Air France has unveiled two new state-of-the-art flight simulators at its pilot training center located at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport. This multi-million-euro investment strengthens the airline’s training infrastructure, reinforcing its commitment to operational efficiency and sustainability.
The new simulators, dedicated to the Airbus A220 and A350 models, stand out for their advanced technology and low energy consumption. Designed to replicate both the cockpit environment and flight maneuvers with extreme precision, they enable pilots to train under conditions nearly identical to real-life scenarios, including complex or emergency situations.
A Center Evolving with Aviation
Since its opening in 1972, Air France’s training center has continuously evolved to meet the needs of a fleet in constant renewal. With the addition of these two new simulators, the total now in operation reaches fourteen:
- 3 Airbus A220 simulators
- 2 A320 simulators
- 1 A330 simulator
- 3 A350 simulators
- 4 Boeing 777 simulators
- 1 Boeing 787 simulator

Additionally, the center is equipped with 4 Fixed Training Devices (FTDs), which complement practical sessions.
These resources allow pilots to train from their initial stages to advanced levels. Under the supervision of specialized instructors, each pilot completes four simulator training sessions per year. In 2024 alone, over 500 training courses were conducted, totaling approximately 70,000 simulation hours.
Technology and Sustainability: A Key Combination
The expansion of the building to accommodate the new equipment was carried out without disrupting the training program. Aligning with its environmental commitment, Air France installed 140 solar panels on the center’s roof to cover part of its electricity demand.
The new simulators, like the next-generation aircraft being added to the airline’s fleet, are designed to consume up to six times less electricity than their predecessors—without compromising performance or training accuracy.
By investing in technological innovation and sustainability, Air France enhances its crew preparedness and reaffirms its vision of a more efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly aviation industry.
