Avianca has submitted a request to Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority for the opening of three new international routes. These routes will connect El Dorado International Airport in Bogotá with Monterrey and Guadalajara in Mexico, as well as Montego Bay in Jamaica, aiming to provide travelers with new flight options.
According to the submitted documentation, Avianca plans to operate each route with a frequency of 7 weekly flights, equivalent to one daily flight. The airline will use Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft for these operations. Additionally, the request includes operations under the third and fourth freedoms of the air.
If approved, Avianca would compete with Viva Aerobus on the routes to Monterrey and Guadalajara, while becoming the only airline offering direct flights between Bogotá and Montego Bay.
The establishment of these new routes would strengthen Avianca’s presence in the international market and further enhance Colombia’s connectivity.
