Air Canada has launched its most ambitious winter schedule to date for Latin America, with a 16% increase in capacity compared to the previous winter. This strategy strengthens its presence in the region, offering over 80,000 weekly seats and more than 55 daily flights, solidifying its position as the Canadian airline with the broadest range of destinations in Latin America.
New Latin American Destinations: Four Tourist Gems
For the 2025-26 winter season, the airline is adding four new destinations to its network, enhancing connectivity with Latin America:
- Rio de Janeiro: Three weekly flights from Toronto (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) starting December 4, 2025.
- Cartagena: Weekly flights from Toronto and Montreal every Saturday, operating from December 20, 2025, to April 11, 2026.
- Guatemala City: Flights from Montreal on Thursdays and Saturdays, from October 2, 2025, to April 25, 2026.
- Guadalajara: Three weekly flights from Toronto (Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday) starting November 4, 2025.
Marcelo Freixo, President of Embratur, emphasized the significance of the new route to Rio de Janeiro, highlighting the growing interest among Canadian travelers in authentic and sustainable experiences in Brazil.

Additional Routes from Canada to Latin America and the Caribbean
Air Canada is introducing 13 new routes to popular destinations, including:
- Montreal – Santiago de Chile: Three weekly flights from December 16, 2025, to February 27, 2026.
- Quebec – Fort-de-France: Weekly flights every Sunday from December 7, 2025, to April 26, 2026.
- Toronto – Pointe-à-Pitre: Saturday flights from December 20, 2025, to April 11, 2026.
- Ottawa – Nassau and Montego Bay: New weekly services starting December 5 and December 7, respectively.
- Halifax – Nassau and Montego Bay: Friday and Thursday flights starting December 4, 2025.
- Vancouver – Huatulco: Sunday flights starting December 7, 2025.
Increased Frequencies on Established Routes
In addition to new destinations and routes, Air Canada is significantly boosting capacity on existing routes:
From Toronto:
- Los Cabos: Up to daily flights.
- Nassau: Up to 12 weekly flights.
- Montego Bay: Up to 10 weekly flights.
- Monterrey: Service expanded from summer to winter.
- St. Maarten: Up to 5 weekly flights.
From Montreal:
- Punta Cana: Up to three daily flights.
- St. Maarten: Up to 4 weekly flights.
- Montego Bay: Up to 4 weekly flights.
From Vancouver:
- Los Cabos: Up to 5 weekly flights.
- Puerto Vallarta: Up to daily flights.
Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Air Canada, stated that this expansion is part of the airline’s “New Frontiers” strategy. The approach focuses on leveraging international connecting traffic, particularly from Europe to Latin America, while also meeting the growing demand for air cargo.
“With this expansion, we offer travelers multiple options from any point in our network. Whether connecting from Europe to destinations like Santiago, Guatemala City, or Guadalajara, or for Canadians seeking a sunny escape, our customers can now plan their winter vacations with ease,” said Galardo.
